Group Tours: William Morris at Home

What to expect

Our expert guides lead an hour-long talk covering the life and work of William Morris, the history of Kelmscott House, and the legacy of Morris & Co. You’ll explore all the historic rooms, take in our exhibition Practically Magic, and get a rare glimpse of objects not usually on display — original wallpaper, watercolour designs, and other pieces from our collection.

If your group has particular interests, let us know in advance and we’ll tailor the talk accordingly.

Practicalities

Day time tours are available Monday to Wednesday, year-round. The tour costs £12 per person (minimum 8, maximum 24).

Evening tours are available any day of the week, 5pm-10pm. The tour costs £15 per person (minimum 8, maximum 24).

Refreshments

Tea, Coffee and Biscuits: Can be included in the tour for an additional fee.

Wine, prosecco and soft drinks: Can be included in the tour for an additional fee.

Afternoon Tea: Can be included in the tour for an additional fee, served at nearby Linden House. (5 min walk)

Combine your visit

Consider pairing your daytime tour with a visit to Emery Walker’s House at 7 Hammersmith Terrace — a ten-minute walk away, open March to November. Groups larger than eight can split across both venues and swap after an hour. For costs and availability, contact the Emery Walker Trust directly at info@emerywalker.org.uk.

Booking

We ask for at least one month’s notice and payment in full 14 days in advance. To book, email events@williammorrissociety.org with a selection of possible dates.

Invoicing

Group numbers for tour bookings must be confirmed in writing no later than 14 days before the visit. Once an invoice has been issued, the amount is final and will not be revised to reflect later reductions in group size, whether due to cancellations or no-shows. Any increase in numbers after the invoice has been sent will be billed as an additional, separate charge. This policy helps us manage bookings fairly and keeps our finance administration accurate and efficient.
