Frequently Asked Questions

The Museum is open Thursday to Sunday, 10am–4pm. Please check our website before visiting for any seasonal changes or special closures.

How much is admission?

General admission is £5 per person.

Children under 16, Society Members, Historic Houses members and Hammersmith and Fulham residents are free.

Do I need to book in advance?

It is best to book online in advance to guarantee entry, however you can also buy tickets on the door on arrival. For groups bookings, or for school visits, please contact us in advance to make arrangements.

Where is the museum located?

We are based at Kelmscott House, 26 Upper Mall, Hammersmith, London W6 9TA—William Morris’s home from 1878 to 1896. The visitor entrance is located to the right of the main house, via the cobbled pathway.

How do I get there?

The nearest London Underground stations are Ravenscourt Park (District Line), a 10 minute walk away, and Hammersmith (Piccadilly, District, Hammersmith & City lines), a 15-minute walk away. Several bus routes stop nearby. Limited on-street parking is available, so we recommend using public transport.

Is the museum accessible?

The Coach House, Garden Room and disabled toilet are accessible via a ramp, but if you have mobility needs or require assistance, please contact us in advance so we can accommodate your visit comfortably. Disabled parking can be arranged with advanced notice.

Can I bring children?

Absolutely! Families are very welcome. We offer a free children’s Strawberry Thief activity trail to help younger visitors explore William Morris’s world.

Are dogs allowed?

Guide dogs only.

Is there a café or shop?

We don’t have a café on-site, but there are plenty of pubs and cafés close by along the river front.

Our museum shop stocks books, gifts, and Morris-inspired items as well as local handmade arts and crafts products.
