It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Peter Faulkner, who passed away last week. Peter was a friend, comrade and mentor to many in the William Morris Society, as well as being an outstanding scholar. Peter published extensively on the life and work of William Morris, including William Morris: the critical heritage (1973), and Against the age: an introduction to William Morris (1980), along with numerous articles and reviews. Peter held many roles in the William Morris Society over the years, such as Chairman, Journal Editor and Reviews Editor.
His passing is a great loss to the William Morris Society and to Morris studies, and he will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to know him. We send our deepest condolences to Peter’s family. Peter’s funeral will take place on Friday 20th December. Please contact the Society for details.
