Join Daunton Marbling Studio and dive into the ancient art of paper marbling.
In this hands-on workshop you will:
* Discover the history of this centuries-old craft
* Learn about materials, tools and techniques
* Create traditional and contemporary patterns
* Create your own hand marbled papers
Paper marbling artist, Nichola Daunton, will guide you through every step of the marbling process, helping you to create your own unique hand marbled papers.
Listed as endangered in the UK by the Heritage Crafts Association, paper marbling dates back centuries. We’ll be using traditional tools and techniques, as well as introducing some more contemporary alternatives, to create a range of beautiful, intricate patterns.
At the end of the workshop, you’ll have your own collection of unique hand marbled papers to take home with you for crafting, framing or gift wrapping.
This workshop is perfect for beginners and all materials and tools will be provided.
We will be using lots of paint in this workshop, so please take this into consideration when choosing your outfit for the day.
Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided. Please bring your own lunch.
Bio
Daunton Marbling Studio produces lavish hand marbled paper, marbled gifts and unique marbled artworks in North East London. With a background in collage and illustration, founder Nichola Daunton combines traditional techniques with joyful colour and craft to produce contemporary, stylish papers.
Nichola also teaches the delicate art of paper marbling to adults and children across London and the South East, running workshops in galleries, boutiques and craft centres.
