The Society recently acquired a new addition to our collection, a book originally owned by Morris himself, gifted to him by Mackenzie Bell, the author. ‘Spring’s Immortality: And Other Poems’ was published in 1895, and features a hand written note to Morris from Bell in the front of the publication, which also contains Morris’s own bookplate from his Kelmscott House library. In celebration of Morris’s book returning ‘home’, this talk will cover the scope and history of Morris’s extensive library at Kelmscott House, and we will discover what happened to the wide variety of books that Morris had lovingly collected over the last few years of his life.
