‘Morris and Water’ Talk (in person at the William Morris Society and online via Zoom)

Wednesday 9 September 2026, 6:30pm–7:30pm

This talk by John Sheridan will explore how William Morris’s lifelong affinity with rivers and water influenced his social and family life, as well as his work as a designer and writer. The talk will be followed by a Q&A.

John is a retired civil servant who lives in south London and volunteers at the Wandle Industrial Museum and Merton Priory Chapter House Museum. Both museums feature permanent exhibitions on William Morris.

For in-person ticket holders, doors to the William Morris Society will open at 6pm. A welcome drink is included in the ticket price, and the lecture will take place in the Library.

For online ticket holders, the link to the live online event will be sent on the day of the talk. The talk will begin promptly at 6:30pm.
