Join us at the William Morris Society for an introduction to crochet!
Sally Roberson, who has 60 years of experience, will show you how to make a start in crochet by learning to make granny squares. With practice, these can be turned into cushions or rugs, or even into scarves, waistcoats or jackets. The possibilities are endless & the equipment you need is very simple – just a crochet hook & a ball of yarn.
This is just the skill you’ll need to make cosy items for the colder weather – keeping warm at home or when you’re on the move, presents for family or friends, just in time for Christmas.
Sally will be explaining & showing you the basics, with plenty of examples, photos & charts to help you along & you’ll be able to go home with all the materials you need to make squares for a cushion cover. Left-handers need not fear – they too can become experts!
Crochet has other benefits, too – mentally calming, rhythmic & soothing, almost meditational in its appeal, it’s a good escape from the pressures of everyday life.
Please arrive at 10am to begin at 10:30. you will be welcomed with tea and coffee, and there will be a short break at noon.
All participants must be 16+
