Perpetuating the memory of one of the greatest men of the Victorian age

ZOOM LECTURE: Frederic Leighton and the ‘East’

October 24, 2020 15.00

ONLINE EVENT

Frederic Leighton travelled extensively in north Africa and the Middle East. The Arab Hall extension to his home in Holland Park is the most spectacular expression of his engagement with the region, but its influence was also felt in his collecting and his work as a painter. This talk will explore these interests and their importance in Leighton’s life and work.

Daniel Robbins is Senior Curator of Leighton House and 18 Stafford Terrace
