Design contemporaries Arthur Silver and William Morris died within months of each other in 1896. The aesthetics of their work held numerous similarities; yet the commercial and ideological ethos of the two studios differed considerably. This afternoon session provides an opportunity to explore the collections of the Silver Studio, and how the designs the studio produced responded to, were inspired by, and differed from the work of Morris & Co. MoDA’s Head of Collections, Zoe Hendon, and Curator Dr Serena Dyer will guide you through a selection of designs by the Silver Studio during this period, as well as original Morris wallpapers and textiles.
