Perpetuating the memory of one of the greatest men of the Victorian age

Kelmscott Manor: Past, Present and Future

February 23, 2019 14.15 at The Coach House, Kelmscott House

The Society of Antiquaries has owned, curated and conserved Kelmscott Manor since 1962. With support from the Heritage Lottery Fund it has recently embarked on a major project which encompasses conservation of the house and its associated buildings, new educational opportunities and a new interpretative approach which will encourage visitors to see Kelmscott through Morris’s eyes and imagination. This talk will consider the influence of Kelmscott Manor on Morris’s thinking, and explain how this inspired the new project.

Peter Cormack, MBE, FSA, is Honorary Curator of Kelmscott Manor and works closely with the Antiquaries’ Kelmscott Project Team.
