INTRODUCTION TO LETTERPRESS PRINTING AND BOOKBINDING – CANCELLED

August 19, 2017 10.30 - 13.30 at The Coach House at Kelmscott House

DUE TO CIRCUMSTANCES BEYOND OUR CONTROL THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED. WE HOPE TO ARRANGE ANOTHER DATE LATER THIS YEAR, AND APOLOGISE FOR ANY INCONVENIENCE.

Come and experience the art of bookbinding and letterpress printing inspired by the Kelmscott Press at the William Morris Society in collaboration with the the London Centre for Book Arts.

Participants to this unique workshop will create their own case-bound (hardback) journal with artwork on the covers referencing books designed by Morris for the Kelmscott Press.

During the workshop, participants will also have the chance to print a facsimile of a bookplate designed for the Kelmscott Press from the William Morris Society Library using Morris’s original 1835 Albion printing press.

All materials are included. Participants must be aged 16 or older.

London Centre for Book Arts (londonbookarts.org) is an artist-run, open-access studio providing workshop programmes for the community and access to resources for artists and designers. Making Books: A guide to creating hand-crafted books by the London Centre for Book Arts will be published by Pavilion Books in August.
