In Memory of Morris

October 2021 marks the 125th anniversary of William Morris’s death and so it is timely for this month’s talk to explore the Society’s fascinating collection of obituaries of this Victorian polymath. From poetry to politics, Morris’s myriad interests and talents were covered in numerous tributes in both the national and international press, making for absorbing reading.

We’ll also look at the events surrounding Morris death; the incidents leading up to his final day, the people who were present at his bedside at Kelmscott House, the journey from Hammersmith to Kelmscott, and the funeral itself.

Please join us as to commemorate William Morris’s special anniversary and remember a truly remarkable man.
