Godfrey Rubens

Posted on February 5, 2019

We were saddened to hear of the recent death of Godfrey Rubens, who was a longstanding member of The William Morris Society and served as a committee member in the Society’s early days.  His published works included The PreRaphaelites and their Friends in Oxford and a biography of W. R. Lethaby. He gave the annual Kelmscott Lecture in 1995 on Morris, Lethaby and the Arts & Crafts Movement, and generously donated a number of items to the Society’s collections.

A funeral service will be held at Islington crematorium, East Finchley, London, on Wednesday 13th March at 3.30pm.

A fuller obituary will follow in the Society’s publications in due course.
